| Like so many in the music industry, Mark’s proficiency and love for music and instruments was apparent at a young age. While he’s known as a drummer today, his fingers first started strumming a guitar at the age of nine. From those early notes, Mark’s musical talent and knowledge ripened while playing the guitar with the Ontario Conservatory of Music for nearly eight years. During these years, he won several awards at talent competitions throughout Southern Ontario. His fingers then found their way to a piano where he focused his talents for a couple more years. Still unsatisfied musically and unconcerned with local noise by-laws, Mark hit the drums, and hit them hard! It’s been said that his first couple of drum kits didn’t stand a chance! During the late 90’s, Mark taught guitar lessons out of a music studio in his hometown of Fergus, Ontario. Then, as Brad Paisley would later advise, Mark got a few good buddies and started a Band; their first “new country” band, Backroads. Throughout the next few years, Mark played with several different acts before becoming one of the founding members of Moonshine. One visit to a Moonshine show and you’ll see why Mark is best known for his wild sense of humour, which is seldom contained, especially when on stage. |
